2023 Calendar of Events
Meetings and Special Programs are held at the Hart County Historical Society Museum on Main Street, Munfordville on the third Tuesdays of January, April, July and October at 7:00 P.M. Central unless otherwise stated. Meetings are free to the public. Join us.

JANUARY 2023

- 17th Quarterly Speaker Program and Society Meeting at The Hart County Public Library 6-8 PM Central Time. Details: Ever wonder what farming was like in Hart County in the middle of the 19th century? Who were the major producers of the county? What crops were grown during that era? Join us at the Hart County Public Library on Tuesday, January 17th at 6 PM Central Time for light refreshments. At 6:30 Central Time the historical society membership will have a very short meeting. At 7 PM Central we will enjoy historian and storyteller, Gary Dean Gardner as he gives us an overview of the agricultural pursuits of Hart County farmers. We appreciate the Hart County Public Library for hosting us and for providing refreshments! See you there.

- WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH - We salute the women of Hart County, KY!

- 25th Park Day - Calling all Volunteers to come on out to the Woodson House and Battlefield Preserve for a day of Clean up. ALSO! If you have ever thought it would be fun to be a volunteer guide at the Museum in downtown Munfordville you would be correct! On March 25th we invite you to the Museum for a wonderful tour given by Carolyn Short and lunch. You can find out more about our volunteer opportunities.

- 8th Community Easter Egg Hunt on the Courthouse Square in Munfordville

- 18th Quarterly Speaker Program and Society Meeting 6-8 PM - To be held at The Hart County Public Library. Sam Terry will be our guest speaker. He is the creator of Sam Terry’s Kentucky. He is a graduate of Transylvania University, holding a degree in history; he furthered his studies at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. During a stint in state government he worked as an assistant to the state curator of Kentucky’s historic properties. Both professionally and personally, Sam has contributed to state and local historic preservation efforts and helping people embrace our unique history. Sam has served as president of the Kentucky Association of Museums, the Historical Confederation of Kentucky, the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center, Renaissance-Main Street Glasgow, and he led the efforts to save and adaptively reuse Glasgow’s historic Liberty Street School campus. For the past 28 years he has led cemetery walking tours in his community, and he researched and created a Civil War Walking Tour that is now part of the middle school history curriculum. As editor of the local newspaper, Sam provided readers with a hearty serving of Kentucky history through his popular column, “My Kentucky.” Sam was also the researcher and writer for the first year of the Kentucky Humanities Council’s program, Think History, broadcast on public radio stations throughout Kentucky.

- 18th Hart County Historical Society Quarterly Speaker Program and Society Meeting to be held at The Hart County Public Library.
- 18th Quarterly Publication mailed to all members
- 22nd - Roaring 20's at The Woodson House 5PM-10PM. Wear your favorite 20's outfit, listen to Bluegrass Music and enjoy vintage cars pre-1940 (no hot - rods allowed).
AUGUST 2023

SEPTEMBER 2023
- 4th Labor Day. The museum will be closed.
- 8th, 9th, 10th Hart County Civil War Days - Battle for the Bridge events. Locations for various events include Munfordville Courthouse Square, Battlefield at 810 Rush Island Bend Road and The Woodson House located at 1309 South Dixie HWY. Event schedule will be posted separately. The museum will be open on the 8th, 9th, 10th.
